DTG inks adhere best to natural fibres such as cotton – with this in mind it’s best to use 100% cotton garments for the best wash fastness. When using 100% cotton T-shirts there’s no reason that the print shouldn’t last just as long as the garment.
Using 100% cotton garments however isn’t always feasible, many Hoodies, Sweatshirts and jog pants are made using Cotton Polyester blends which is important to keep the fit of the garment after washing, as well as T-shirts which use polyester for heather colours. We find that as long as the cotton content is high (approximately 70% – 80%) then there should be no real noticeable difference in wash ability.
